The sizes, and what gets covered

X recommends 1500 x 500 pixels for the header, a 3:1 rectangle, and 400 x 400 for the profile photo, which is shown as a circle on most accounts. JPG, PNG and GIF uploads are accepted, but animated GIFs don't play in either spot.

Two things eat into a header. The profile picture sits over the lower left corner, and phone screens trim a little from the top and bottom. Tick Show safe zones in the maker to see both. Keep words in the middle band and away from the circle and they'll show up everywhere.

Questions

What size is an X (Twitter) header?

X recommends 1500 x 500 pixels for the header (a 3:1 shape) and 400 x 400 pixels for the profile photo. Every file you export here uses those sizes, so X has nothing to resize except for its own display.

Are the designs really free to use?

Yes. All the headers on this site are original artwork made for it, and you can use them on your own X profile, personal or business, without credit. Please don't resell them as a pack or upload them to other download sites.

Do you upload my photo or text anywhere?

No. The header maker runs entirely in your browser. A photo you add is read by your browser, drawn on a canvas and saved straight to your device. Nothing is sent to us.

Is this site part of X or Twitter?

No. Free Twitter Layout is an independent site and is not affiliated with X Corp. We just make free artwork that fits X profile sizes.
